Proficient English requires IELTS 7 in each component, or PTE listening 58 / reading 59 / writing 69 / speaking 76. Superior English requires IELTS 8 in each component, or PTE listening 69 / reading 70 / writing 85 / speaking 88.

Not accepted, at any level: fully online or “at-home” versions of these tests, even from an approved provider. This includes IELTS Online, CELPIP Online, LANGUAGECERT Academic Online, MET Digital, OET@Home, and TOEFL iBT Home Edition. Your test must be sat at a secure, in-person test centre booking a remote version because it’s more convenient means the result won’t be accepted.

Passport Exemptions: Who Doesn't Need to Sit a Test

If you hold a valid passport from Canada, New Zealand, the Republic of Ireland, the United Kingdom, or the United States, you can meet the Functional, Vocational or Competent English requirement without sitting a test. Pakistani passport holders aren’t covered by this exemption and will need test evidence at whichever level their visa requires.
