What is the National Innovation Visa (858)?

The National Innovation Visa (formerly known as the Global Talent visa) is a permanent visa launched on 7 December 2024. It targets globally‑recognised professionals, entrepreneurs, researchers, creatives, and athletes whose exceptional achievements can significantly benefit Australia’s future prosperity.

Who Is It For?

Highly accomplished individuals who can demonstrate:
  • Exceptional and outstanding achievement in their field

  • International recognition through awards, publications, patents, elite rankings, or entrepreneurial success

  • Ongoing prominence in areas such as innovation, technology, arts, sports, or research

How to Apply: Expression of Interest (EOI)

  1. Submit an EOI through ImmiAccount to showcase your achievements
  2. Receive an invitation (you’ll have 60 days to apply)
  3. Complete the nomination using Form 1000, attested by an Australian citizen, or recognized organisation
  4. Lodge the visa application in ImmiAccount, including required evidence

To qualify for the 858 visa, you must:
  • Be exceptionally talented and currently recognised internationally

  • Be nominated by an eligible Australian individual or organisation

  • Show your ability to contribute substantially to Australia’s future prosperity 📈

  • Meet health and character requirements
